Get Yourself A Few Pairs Of Fashion Sunglasses With UV Protection

All people should wear fashion sunglasses for protection from the damaging rays of the sun. Glasses that block out HEV, UVB and UVA light are the ones that are recommended. These will protect your eyes from at least possible skin cancer and cataracts.

Glasses that shade your eyes from the suns' rays are not only available so that you do not squint while driving or walking outside. They do not make them only for style or fashion. The main purpose of glasses that block out the light of the sun is for protection.

Exposing unprotected eyes to excessive amounts of ultraviolet rays over a short amount of time can cause photokeratiis, or sunburn in the eyes. This can be painful, and give you the feeling of having sand in your eyes. This is usually only temporary and hardly ever causes permanent damage to the eyes. However, long term exposure to this can be more serious. Which is why people need to be made aware of why they need to wear glasses that shade the eyes.

Studies have proved that long-term exposure to UVA will lead to cataracts and damage to the retina. UVB rays do not have as much energy as UVA ones do, but if overexposure can give you skin cancer in the eye area. Being exposed to UVB rays for a shorter length of time will cause the corneas to become inflamed. This has the effect of short term blindness lasting over twenty four hours.

Eighty percent of exposure to the sun occurs when people are younger than age 18. Children are known to spend more time outside than adults. This is why it is very important to protect their eyes as well as your own. Glasses that block out at least ninety nine percent of harmful rays are recommended.

Try to find glasses that absorb up to 400nm. This is the same as a label that reads one hundred percent UV protection. Either plastic or glass lenses that have these labels will be fine for blocking out damaging rays.

Reflected glare is light that comes back at you from water or a smooth surface. Polarized glasses will stop this glare from happening. They do not block UV rays. It is possible to get both polarized and UV blocking lenses together. This would be good for any outdoor fun and driving.

UV protection is not based on the color of the lens in your sunglasses. It will not matter if your lenses are dark or a light colored brown. Color only matters for blocking out HEV radiation. HEV is also known as blue light or high-energy visible radiation.

Ultraviolet light rays do have more energy than HEV rays, but HEV radiation will go deeper into the eyes and have damaging effects on your retinas. A reddish brown, bronze or copper lens is best for protection from these rays. The label on these glasses might say blue blocking. You can find glasses that will protect you from all of the harmful rays.

It is clear why the right sunglasses are important to everyone. All people might not to have the entire combination of lenses but everyone needs at least the UV protection.
