Black Eye

A black eye is when there is a bruise underneath or around the eye.  These usually show themselves as being black in color and are easily spotted.

A black eye usually occurs when one is hit in the eye or hits an object that causes this to occur.   Blood collects under the skin and can cause this to show up as a black eye.

The majority of the time a black eye is associated with fighting and violence.  However, this is not truly always the case.

You can get a black eye by running into an object that you usually may not have come in contact with on purpose.  Many people may run into an object if they get up during the night and this can easily cause a black eye to occur.

There is usually no permanent damage when you get a black eye, other than it being something you have to explain to others.  It usually will go away in a few days and leave no damage whatsoever.

The eyes are a very precious commodity and should be treated with care as much as possible.  Wear eye protection when you are working on something that may cause
danger to your eyes at all times, your eyesight is priceless.
